TUG OF WAR

For the 6th year, we hope to welcome an “Open” competition run under the auspices of the Tug of War Federation of Great Britain. Teams have come from throughout the midlands for this event. The Tug of War Federation of Great Britain is unique in that it hosts competitions for mixed classes.
The Tug of War season starts in April with training meets. It progresses to Open Tournaments which conclude in October. Teams will be competing for awards presented by the Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society and medals from the federation. Officials and competitors are all volunteers and some attending today are of national level. A standard competition will have 5 weight classes. The first competition is in the 620 kilo - 4 by 4 class i.e. the team must consist of 4 men and 4 women.
